Never looked at it that way, but you're 100% correct...as always:)<br /><br />"Scream" and "I Know" were bad imitators (though they were the best of the hundreds of others that failed totally). Sceam had promise but lost it all with the follow ups. Also the Rob Zombie remake and sequel to it are just pitiful movies that, as you say, focus on the wrong elements. Less is more and it works doubly so with a horror film.<br /><br />In a way, Halloween is more like Jaws for all the reasons you say that Michael was so effective.
